In a time when electropop is slowly but steadily consuming a huge place in the pop genre, we can boldly say that MØ is one of the craftsmen of this nascent genre of pop music. Karen Marie Aagaard Ørsted Andersen, known as MØ, is a Danish Singer, Songwriter, and producer. Her stage name MØ means “virgin” or “maiden”. MØ grew her musical interest from childhood when she listened to cult musicians like Curt Kobain (Nirvana), Black Flag, and Yeah Yeah Yeahs, her greatest inspiration was Kim Gordon.
Born in a Danish family from Ubberud, near Odense in Denmark, she got the environment of listening to English music from childhood, which gradually helped her become a musician. She was a fan of groups like Spice Girls, which invented a culture of pop songs in her mind.
MØ’s first musical effort was a side project in 2006, named The Edmond; it had tracks like “Garbage King” and “Polly Get Your Gun”. She later released some other side projects. These projects made her name recognizable in the local music industries. Then she formed duo MOR with her friend Josefine Struckmann Pedersen and released two EPs.

MØ made her first impact in world music in 2013, when she collaborated with DJ Avicii on his album True. In the same year, she released her first single “Waste of Time” and her first extended play Bikini Daze. Her first studio album No Mythologies to Follow came in 2014. The brand new style of beat music with scant guitar nodes gave the audience something new to bang the head.
In 2014 MØ collaborated with Australian rapper Iggy Azalea, in his song “Beg for it”. Her biggest hit came in 2015 when MØ was featured in Major Lazer and Drake’s song “Lean on”. The song got worldwide coverage from Europe, Australia, and the United States. MØ had become a very well-known face in the music industry with this song hitting all the charts. She released her next album Forever Neverland in 2018.
